Tackling the skidpan - a driver in the finals of last year's Driver of the Year competition

There’s still time to enter the first round of BT’s Driver of the Year competition before the top 250 entrants to go forward to the next round are announced on 27 May.
BT’s annual driving challenge - which last year attracted 4,000 entries - is designed to raise safety awareness and support good driving behaviour and attitude across the company. All BT employees are invited to enter the competition - with a chance to win a top prize of £5,000, a second prize of £2,500 and a third prize of £1,500. To encourage entry, a number of spot prizes varying from £50 to £200 are being made to entrants into the early rounds - and there will also be runner-up prizes for all who reach the final. BT people have until 23 May to enter the initial round. This consists of three online sections aimed at testing knowledge of good driving practice, the Highway Code and BT's health and safety policies. The second round covers cognitive skills. The final round in September for the top 30 finalists will consist of a day-long driving event at a race track at Rockingham, Northamptonshire, followed by a prize-giving ceremony, a gala dinner and an overnight stay in a local hotel. The competition is open to any BT employee with an employee identification number (EIN). Finalists' travel costs must be funded by their line of business but overnight accommodation and the gala dinner is provided free for finalists.
