Learn to work smartly

Work Wise Week in the UK will run this year from Thursday 15 May through to Wednesday 21 May - an unconventional week that itself aims to demonstrate flexible working.

The week is organised by the BT-supported Work Wise UK - launched in 2006 as a five-year, not-for-profit initiative aimed at encouraging the widespread adoption of smarter working practices.

Work Wise seeks to promote work-life balance, increase business productivity and competitiveness, and help the environment through reduced transport congestion and pollution. Its goal is for half the UK’s working population - some 14 million people - to have the opportunity to work smarter by the end of the programme in 2011.

BT is a keen supporter of Work Wise’s aims - and, with some 70 per cent of its workforce already working flexibly, is itself recognised internationally as a pioneer of flexible working practices.

More about flexible working and Work Wise Week - together with comments from BT people who have established their own individual solutions to flexible working - can be read in the Features section of BT Today.
