Lynda’s Roller Coaster ride for charity

Customer Service programme manager Lynda O’Sullivan will be using pedal power this summer to raise money for a charity set up by one of her CS colleagues.

Lynda, who works in Stoke, is taking part in the Roller Coaster 100-mile cycle ride on 13 and 14 June, following the Devon coast-to-coast route from Plymouth to Woolacombe.

The ride is this year’s major fundraiser for Brown Dog - the charity that raises money to help men, women and children with cancer. The charity was set up by Leicester-based CS head of business improvement, Mark Storer.

Lynda said: “I started cycling three or four years ago with a good friend of mine called Tracy. Last year we decided we’d like to combine cycling, which we love, with raising money.”

Having heard about Mark’s charity, which he started in 2000 after recovering from cancer himself, Lynda and Tracy put their names down for the Devon ride.

“It won’t be easy but it’s good to challenge yourself,” said Lynda. “We’re doing heavy training on hilly ground and we’re up to about 30 miles at a weekend, so I think we’ll be fine.”

The pair will be looking to raise as much money as possible for Brown Dog - and they’re hoping CS colleagues will support them. Lynda says anyone who would like to help can contact her by e-mail for a sponsorship form.

“I’m hugely looking forward to it,” she said. “It’s doing what we love and at the same time raising money for a really good cause.”
