Managers from the BT Operate regional control team went "quackers" when they visited Liverpool for a team-building event.
They got a surprise when they attended the meeting hosted by Liverpool control manager Emma Robinson and Bootle control manager Irene Wynne. “Emma and I wanted the visiting managers from all over the country to see as much as possible of Liverpool - the beautiful Capital of Culture 2008 city and the excellent World Heritage Site on the waterfront,” said Irene. “So we booked everyone on a Duck Tour to see the major sites of the city on an amphibious tour bus.” The tour company has two World War Two amphibious landing craft which have been rebuilt, updated and turned into 30-seat sightseeing vehicles. “We were on Wacker Quacker 1 which was in operation in 1943 in Europe delivering supplies to the troops,” said Irene. “After the tour of the city, the surprise comes when the Wacker Quacker splashes down into the Salthouse Dock. It was brilliant and everyone enjoyed the experience.” - Pictured in front of Wacker Quacker 1 are, from left, integration and control centre managers Gavin Stuart and Keith Gough, Emma Robinson, central London control manager Scott Rolph, Irene Wynne, control managers Keith Routledge, Steve Earl, Billy Leigh and Colin Craig, solutions control manager Andy Carmody, operations manager Dave Odell and compliance control manager Paul Neath.
