Hanna speaks at conference

Customer Service apprentice Hanna Hammad was a keynote speaker at a BT-supported conference.

Hanna, based at Exbridge House in Exeter, was invited to speak at the Chippenham conference, which focused on the needs of organisations working in rural areas of England - and how ICT can help in their work.

Hanna addressed delegates on her role in developing the corporate social responsibility agenda - and her work on digital inclusion, research and development.

She said: “It was a great opportunity to represent BT and share what we are doing in the company - and to hear other people’s thoughts and ideas.

“I was very interested to see how communities are reliant on the services BT provides and how BT’s services are becoming utilities like gas, water and electricity.”

The event was part of a series of national conferences promoted by an organisation called ICT Hub. Matt Legg, from the conference promoters, said: “Rural groups do have a distinct set of issues as regards the use of ICT.

“Working with COSMIC and I-Trust in developing and running this event, we are passionate about addressing some of these needs and raising awareness of the local and national support and materials available to assist these groups in better understanding how ICT can help solve some of these specific issues.”
