Kate Gee receives the IFSEC award

A lightweight camera mounted on a headset has scooped a top award for BT at the prestigious International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC) 2008 industry awards.

BT’s fire and security specialist arm BT Redcare won the CCTV product of the year award for the BT Body Worn Video system at last night’s (Monday’s) awards ceremony in Birmingham.

The BT Body Worn Video system allows a camera - mounted on a headset - to be comfortably carried above the ear.

Although developed to police specifications, BT Body Worn Video is also suitable for use by door supervisors, security guards, traffic wardens, community safety officers and rail staff.

Collecting the award on behalf of BT Redcare was business development manager Kate Gee. She said: “BT Redcare is delighted to have won this award. We are very pleased with the success of this innovative product, with which we have won considerable market share.

“The market continues to evolve, with everyone from councils, police, train operating companies and door supervisors at nightclubs using headcams. To celebrate our win we have launched a special offer price of £899, which will continue until the end of quarter one.”

IFSEC 2008 runs until Thursday (15 May) at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
