BT Group chief technology officer Matt Bross has announced a series of new appointments to his team.
Matt says the management changes in the group chief technology office (GCTO) follow the permanent appointment of Tim Whitley as corporate strategy director in group strategy. As a result, Matt has appointed Chris Bilton to replace Tim as director of technology strategy. Reporting to Chris will be programme director Elspeth MacFadyen, head of technology investment analysis Steve Buttery and Alan Nunn, who takes over from Malcolm Wardlaw as head of converged services. Matt said: “Paul Excell will become chief customer engagement officer, reporting to me, and will be accountable for leading, managing and co-ordinating all activities related to Project Engage and customer innovation engagement.” Project Engage is a major collaborative programme between BT Global Services and the GCTO, focused on customer engagement and innovation for some of the biggest customers served by the line of business. Matt says Chris Goldsmith and his team have provided a core part of the GCTO customer engagement to date and he will continue to manage the Engage programme, reporting to Paul. Matt said: “Jean-François Schmid will take on the role of chief of operations for GCTO, also reporting to me. “He will retain his current responsibilities of innovation strategy, internal and external communications, business engagement and the global innovation and technology support team led by vice-president of technology and innovation support Gary Shainberg.”
