BT’s South West regional director Sally Wilcox was one of the guest speakers at a recent presentation of awards.
Sally was representing the company, which sponsored the e-business category at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Devon Business Awards 2008. Hosted by BBC Radio Devon’s David Fitzgerald at the Palace Hotel, Torquay, the awards were split into six sections, with a trophy and £1,000 prize for the winner of each section. BT’s e-business category featured lifestyle retailers, a building services engineering company, and the eventual winner - Safety Services Direct - health and safety consultants and online retailers of safety related products. Sally said: "These awards celebrate the great achievements of Devon's small firms and emphasise the key role they play in the wellbeing of the county. Successful businesses are vital to Devon's future prosperity. “BT is delighted to be sponsoring this category, as e-business has never been more important to the economy of the South West. It is making major changes to the way many of us live and work. "We have many world-class firms which can hold their heads high against competition anywhere in the world and we must continue to press ahead, making the best of the rapidly developing technology, which is transforming the world of business."
