Team praised for network success

A team from BT Wholesale customer service has ensured that the T-Mobile and H3G joint mobile broadband network (MBNL) venture has successfully got off the ground.

Andy Jukes led the BT team of Ian Staley, John Carreau and Carl Brinkworth. Ian, who was new to the team, has been awarded a BT Wholesale SHINE Award for his effort and commitment.

Working closely with the T-Mobile and Ericsson engineers, the team delivered the new orders for the first IMA (inverse multiplexing over asynchronous transfer mode) Siteconnect 3G cluster to five T-Mobile sites in the Midlands area. These were needed to support the upgrade of one of the first MBNL site consolidation cluster groups.

Andy’s team quickly identified what was needed, planned the delivery of the circuits and successfully carried out the plan so that the circuits were ready for use. While doing the work they carried on-the-spot training for the T-Mobile/Ericsson team members who had not previously dealt with the product or process.

Glyn Williams, MBNL deployment director, has thanked everyone involved in the work. He said: “The circuits are all now in and working, and this is a great help to our effort to bring in our first cluster of consolidated sites. Your efforts are very much appreciated."

Andy, acting T-Mobile back office manager, who nominated Ian for his SHINE award, said: “The T-Mobile account had only just moved to us in the Manchester customer service centre and Ian had only just joined us with no background in this type of work.

“By helping us to provide these results Ian has demonstrated to the customer the right attitude and commitment to allay any fears they may have had over the switch of the work into the new Manchester team. Ian’s effort and commitment to the customer needs were exceptional.”
