A team inspired to put on their running shoes by a friend’s battle against cancer have raised far more money than they hoped.

Jan Mort, of BT Global Services in Leeds, stepped out in the Race for Life in Skipton to help raise cash to combat the disease.

She was part of the Jenny’s Joggers team who are all in the same badminton club, and who were prompted to run when one of the club members recently had a mastectomy.

Jan persuaded BT friends Clare Farmer, Michelle Greatrex, Kate Lofthouse and Isobel Middleton to take part, too - and the team raised £1,500.

Clare said: “I’ve never done any running before, but this was an excellent event - all ages were running, the weather was lovely and it was great fun.

“Originally, we hoped to raise about £300, but we had an online donation site, and when we counted everything up we were delighted to find it came to around £1,500.”
