Nine Incredible Ladies from the Eastern region were among the many who signed up to run, walk or jog five kilometres in this year’s Race for Life event.

The nine were brought together by Rika Nauck, a personal assistant based at Adastral Park, Martlesham, who last year did the race on her own.

“It was such a wonderful experience last year, and the support I got from my BT colleagues was just fabulous,” she said. “So to raise the stakes this year, the next logical step was to build a team. I called them the Incredible Ladies.”

The Ladies were made of BT people or wives of employees, seven from Ipswich and two from Cambridge, who took part in the event held at Chantry Park, in Ipswich. Between them, they raised £1,194 for Cancer Research, the charity which organises the annual nationwide event.

“Next year, we want to get even more people involved,” said Rika. “We have good connections with people in Colchester, where we hope to raise a third team

“This year already showed how much can be done when a small team pulls it together - imagine what we can achieve when we get bigger in numbers.”
