After 100 miles in the saddle, Lynda O’Sullivan was delighted to not only have completed a tough two-day bike ride but to have raised almost £600 into the bargain.
Lynda was one of around 25 people who took part in this year’s Brown Dog challenge - the annual major fundraiser for the cancer charity set up by Leicester-based BT manager Mark Storer. The event involved cycling along the Devon coast-to-coast route, taking in some fairly hefty hills. “We all managed to make it from Plymouth to Woolacombe in the two days with nothing more serious than a couple of chains off,” said Lynda. “The weather was perfect, the people were all lovely - and together we managed to raise just over £27,000.” Among those cycling with Stoke-based Lynda were Mark and fellow BT colleague Nick Hill. Back home, Lynda said it was the generosity of friends, family members and BT people that enabled her to raise so much. “I’d like to say thank you to all those who supported me, enabling me to contribute so much to the total,” she said.
