The Baitings Dam - the venue for Sam's abseil
|
Sam Eld may have arthritis but it doesn’t stop her leading an exciting life - as her latest daredevil adventure proves.
Sam, a local loop unbundling advisor from Leicester and a Red Cross volunteer, will be plunging 195ft from the Baitings Dam in Yorkshire on 10 August to raise money for the Red Cross. She said: “Last year I abseiled around 100ft off the Leicester Tigers ground, and this year I’m setting my sights higher with the dam abseil - and I’ve even roped in two colleagues from Tunbridge Wells and Chester. “I’m hoping to raise £195 - a pound for each foot. It can make an amazing difference, even right here in the UK. “Funds raised go towards all kinds of services, from training of first aiders like me - just £10 can buy a first-aid kit - to supplying clean water to flooded areas, and helping those who can’t get about easily reach services like the doctor's.” Anyone who would like to sponsor Sam can do so via her Just Giving website.
