Great cash score for ChildLine

A Blackburn team came close to clinching victory in a five-a-side football competition organised to raise money for charity ChildLine.

The BT-wide event, held in London, saw the Blackburn Customer Service contenders make it through to the finals.

“The aim was to raise money for the children’s charity in order to improve the services given to the children who need them most, while also raising awareness,” said advisor Anna Gillespie.

“Unfortunately, the Blackburn team didn’t win - and in the end a Leicester team took the coveted crown.”

The Blackburn team were winners nonetheless, thanks to their fundraising efforts.

“Advisors from business repair and the helpdesk brought in various items of food to put into a hamper and this was then raffled off,” said Anna. “Altogether we raised around £250 from the Blackburn repair team alone.”

The competition brought in more than £750 in total, with a party and charity auction bringing the final amount to £4,300.

Advisor Maqsud Patel said: "It feels great to have been involved with the charity ChildLine as it does so much to help those in need - plus it was a fantastic day and we had a great time playing football.”
