A BT Global Services man and 11 colleagues from Newcastle will be hitting the high road this month to raise money to help beat cancer.
Kevin Howell, who works on the Department for Work and Pensions programme, and the team plan to complete the ride - almost 150 miles - over three days. He said: “I lost my father to cancer in November 2005 and other colleagues have also had similar experiences, so we vowed to raise some cash by doing the coast to coast bike ride. “We’ll be starting from Whitehaven on 28 August, and finishing in Tynemouth, and hope to raise as much cash as possible for Cancer Research UK. “In addition to riding from coast to coast, Graham McCrindle, Michelle Higgs, Paul Johnson and Sean McGilligan all signed up to take part in this year’s Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge in June, and Michelle also took part in the 5km Race for Life on inJuly. “Anyone who would like to sponsor us on our coast to coast ride can visit our donation website.”
