Football teams step up to challenge

A BT team is putting its best foot forward competing against other major companies in the North East.
The 15-strong football squad, made up of BT people, is playing in the Summer Business League in the North East. Team member Steve Laidlaw, a desk-based specialist within OneDesk, part of BT Global Services, said: “The league is run by Newcastle University, and the teams play throughout the summer. “We are playing against teams including Northern Rock, Dickinson Dees, Eversheds and Accenture.” Steve’s team managed to get strip sponsorship from local firm Ten Alps Publishing. Ian Heads of Ten Alps said: “We sponsored Steve’s team because we’ve just launched a website called www.lapod.co.uk to provide local authority purchasing on demand - we thought it was a good opportunity to publicise the site to the people in the business league.”
