It’s goodbye from Babs
Monday August 11th 2008.   Posted: 09:35
Newport operator Babs Osborne has hung up her headphones following a 27-year career with BT.
When her husband David retired six years ago, Babs said she’d stay just two more years at BT - but six years on, she has finally taken the plunge and left Factory Road to join him in retirement. Babs worked for 27 years, mainly as an operator, but also carried out other roles in that time. Now she intends to put her best feet forward to do a spot of walking - and also intends taking up golf with the challenge of beating her husband, a member of Wood Lake Park Golf Club in Llandegfedd. She is also an active member of the Hope Baptist chapel and helps out with young people on Friday nights. Babs was given a big send-off by all her friends, with a buffet laid on at the call centre. The money donated by BT for the buffet was in turn donated to the Noah’s Ark appeal, which is the chosen charity for BT Newport people this year. “I will greatly miss all my friends at Newport. They have been a great bunch of people to work with and BT has been an excellent company to work for,” said Babs.
