Crawcrook Centenary Methodist Church

A North East church is being made more accessible for disabled people, thanks to the help of a BT man.

Trevor Peart, of the procurement and supply chain central operations team, was delighted when Crawcrook Centenary Methodist Church in Tyne & Wear received an award of £500 from the BT Community Champions scheme.

Trevor has been involved with the church for over 30 years in a variety of roles and is currently part of the team working on access and other requirements.

Run by BT’s charity programme, BT Community Champions awards BT people with funding on behalf of local community groups, charities and organisations where they work on a voluntary basis.

Trevor said: “We are trying to make the building more accessible to the community and we plan to use this £500 award towards the cost of new disabled toilet provision. We already have the necessary ramped access and as we have several regular visitors who use wheelchair this grant will be a big help.”
