Paris here we come . . .

Two BT men are gearing up for a marathon cycle ride in September to raise funds for the premature baby charity BLISS.

Mark Bradbury, from the customer network design team in Cardiff, and Adam Connolly, who works in BT Design, will join some non-BT friends in cycling 300 miles in four days from London to Paris.

“Day one will be from London to Dover and getting the ferry to Calais, and on day two we will cover about 75 miles through the French countryside, ending up at Abbeville. On the third day we will follow the river Somme towards Beauvais, and do the final 60 miles on the last day, to the Eiffel Tower,” said Mark.

“We chose BLISS because a close friend recently became a father and his daughter Isobel was born prematurely at Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny.

“This led to Isobel spending some time in the special baby care unit which opened our eyes to the care and attention that premature babies need, so we decided to try and help,” he said.

Founded nearly 30 years ago, BLISS offers guidance and information to families facing the problems that can arise when a baby is born prematurely. BLISS also funds research and campaigns for babies to receive the best possible level of care, regardless of when and where they are born.

None of the five cyclists has had much experience so the team is currently building up fitness levels and getting in shape for the venture.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the fundraising efforts can donate securely online or get in touch with Mark at pp 4D, Park Gate, Westgate Street, Cardiff, CF10 1NW.
