Graduates are being encouraged to use the MyBT portal
|
Birmingham-based graduate Sean Driscoll has been working with BT Design to put in place new features on the MyBT website.
MyBT is a BT-wide portal that gives BT people an easy way to bring their IT tools and information together in one place. It can be used inside or outside BT, from any PC that has a browser and internet connection. As part of a drive to encourage graduates to use the system, Sean and fellow BT Global Services graduate Matt Reeves from Leeds have been working on several enhancements. Matt said: “We want graduates to become an early-adopter base, and champion MyBT’s uptake through the business.” Richard Finlay, of BT Global Services graduate programme professional services, said: “Our generation uses these functions on a daily basis and we are spread over various projects and locations throughout the UK. "As a graduate community, we are therefore in a position to perpetuate other members of our various teams to start using the system and in effect create a network usage effect.” The improvements worked on by Sean and Matt include a centralised knowledge management feature - drawing together graduate community knowledge including LiveLink areas and feeds from graduate and internal news sites to create an example of best practice within the business. They have also added enterprise social networking - user profile and graduate network community pages with forums/discussion boards that can allow social networking in a similar way to Facebook. Sean said: “MyBT has been in existence for more than six months but, with graduate input, financial backing and support from our managers, we are hoping that it will be championed by graduates at the end of the summer - the new intake will be introduced to the portal as part of its induction in October.”
