The trek will provide funding to help children in deprived communities

Thirty-five people from BT Global Services will be heading to Brazil next March after securing a place on a fundraising trek.
Just under 200 employees from around the globe entered the draw to take part in the Inspiring Young Minds Brazil trek on 6-15 March. In return for their place on the expedition, the successful applicants have made a commitment to raise at least £2,500 each for Inspiring Young Minds Brazil - BT’s global charity programme with children’s organisation UNICEF. Global charity programmes manager Julie Sanders said: “The trek is part of a year-long fundraising drive for Inspiring Young Minds Brazil. “The fundraising programme aims to raise £140,000 in support of sports projects in three Brazilian cities. These provide children in poor communities with access to sports facilities and equipment, as well as workshops to help them combat violence and address community issues. “Trek participants will also visit one of UNICEF's sports for development projects in Rio de Janeiro to see how the money they have raised will help disadvantaged children in Brazil,” she said.
