BT aims to involve up to 75,000 customers in the migration by the end of the financial year

BT has this week successfully completed the migration of a new set of customers in South Wales to the trial 21st century network (21CN) platform.
A national team from BT Operate, Openreach and BT Wholesale worked through the night to manage the migration of the next phase of consumer customers in the village of Wick. The team - supported by Ericsson and Fujitsu - was led by Mick Joiner, head of migration delivery for BT Operate. Phil Lisamore, programme manager for BT Retail, was on site to support the project. The migration is part of the Pathfinder project - which was restarted last month and is designed to prove all aspects of 21CN from the customer’s perspective, before high-volume upgrades. Mick said: “Real progress is being made. We are migrating customers and so far we haven't experienced any 21CN-related faults or regressions. This is excellent. The teams have been professional throughout, with great feedback from the customers and BT senior managers.” The migration aims to involve up to 75,000 customers by the end of the financial year. 21CN is fundamental to BT's transformation to a global, open and real-time communications services business. Through flexible platforms, 21CN will help BT meet its customers' evolving communications needs.
