Youngsters kitted out for season

Much-needed soccer kits are on the way to the under-15s team at a Swansea club. For thanks to the hard-working efforts of David Veasey, BT Community Champions has awarded him £190.

David, a business systems engineer for BT in the Swansea valleys area, gives evenings and weekends to Landore Colts junior football club in the city, where his 14-year-old son. Michael plays.

It was through his son that David became involved with coaching the under-14s, and he says he thoroughly enjoys the role.

“I’m a coach/manager and general taxi driver,” he said, “and we all do our bit to make the club a success.”

David, who has worked for BT for 35 years, also gives much of his time to youth activities connected with his local church.

“I was pleased to get this money from BT as it will go a long way towards getting the boys kitted out for the new season.”
