Small team makes big impact

A relatively small team from Openreach is celebrating after getting an impressive six teams into the semi-finals of this year’s My Customer Challenge Cup.

The successful six - Fibre Soldiers, Special Branch, Pole in One, We have Seen the Light, Streetpride, and Big Foot Little Print - will all represent supplier management at the penultimate judging phase, which takes place this month.

They are among 100 entries from across BT Group all competing for just ten places in the finals in Portugal in October.

Performance lead and coach Karen Hayton, who is coaching the Special Branch team, said: “In the context of BT Group, supplier management is a pretty small team of around 400 people, so having six teams in the semi-finals is a great achievement.

“This success is testimony to the amount of innovative thinking in the team, a strong drive to improve customer satisfaction and shows what can be achieved.

“We held a workshop earlier in the year to encourage teams to take part and it must have captured everyone’s imagination.

“And we’ve all had a huge amount of support from the senior management team, which has been invaluable.”
