Now it's the turn of Paralympics GB to shine in Beijing.

The Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games get under way tomorrow (Saturday) - and BT is backing the event all the way.
The company has long been associated with the Paralympic movement as the British Paralympic Association’s first commercial partner in 1989 - and is supporting Paralympics GB in Beijing. As Official Communications Services Partner for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, BT is already working with Paralympics GB for the event in four years’ time. According to BT Group director of people and policies Caroline Waters, it’s an opportunity for the company to further demonstrate its commitment to disability - to its employees, customers and society in general. “We are delighted to be Official Communications Services Partner for London 2012,” said Caroline. “Our work with Paralympics GB will ensure that, in four years’ time, London 2012 will be at the leading edge of providing services that meet the needs of both the athletes and the visitors to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We’re determined they are going to be the most successful and accessible ever. “For BT, backing the Paralympic Games is a natural extension of our strategy to support people with disabilities and to recognise talent. It clearly demonstrates what we firmly believe - that everyone has it in them to achieve great things, whether it’s in the workplace, at home or in sport. “We support Paralympics GB because we want our athletes to be the best they can be, regardless of their disability - and the same goes for our people inside BT.” BT will be flying the flag at Beijing for Richard Fox, a BT Operate advanced apprentice who is kicking off his sporting dream - taking to the pitch at the Olympic Park as a midfielder for the Paralympics GB cerebral palsy football team. He’ll be hoping his earlier form will be repeated - he scored one of the six goals that put his team on the road to Beijing in a qualifying match against Ireland during the world championships in Brazil. Richard, 20, who is based at Leavesden in Hertfordshire, has been in the England squad for the past four years and is delighted to have been picked for the Paralympics GB squad. He said: “I never ever thought of being a Paralympic athlete. It’s beyond my wildest dreams. I’m so excited about the future and what I can achieve in my lifetime. Being part of the team this year is the ultimate experience.” More information on Richard’s fixtures, together with further news about Beijing 2008 and London 2012, can be found on the BT London 2012 intranet site. Details of the Paralympic TV coverage can also be found online. You can read more about the Paralympic Games in the Features section of BT Today.
