Wigan & Leigh Hospice has made a £5,000 connection with BT by receiving a generous cheque from the telecom corporate business centre in Skelmersdale.

The money was raised as a result of BT Retail’s CEO (chief executive officer) Challenge to employees to meet strict targets over a ten-week period. If targets were met, a donation was promised to a charity of their choice.

“Julie Lowe’s team won the CEO Crimson Challenge for the second year running but, more importantly than that, had the opportunity to make a difference to a very deserving cause,” said Paul Biddle, corporate business centres deputy general manager.

“This is a fantastic result for the hospice on behalf of the great work we do within the centres - how brilliant that we can do this for others in the course of our work.”

Corporate business centre manager Julie and team leader Martin Hutchins presented the cheque to the hospice.

“We had a tour of the hospice and are totally convinced that our choice of charity was correct,” said Julie. “It is a fantastic place doing a magnificent job.”

Hospice chief executive Stuart Liptrot said: “This is a fantastic donation and we want to thank BT and all those involved in choosing the hospice for this very generous donation.”
