No time to sit still for Dale

father and two sons

Memories of a special woman will spur Dale Clarke on when he runs in the London Marathon next year as part of the official BT team.

For Dale, a sales manager for directories in Glasgow, is raising money for ChildLine to commemorate his mum, Doreen, who died in June.

He said: “My very dear mum passed away after a four-year battle with cancer, and this is my way of saying thank-you for all she did for me.”

Dale, who has been with BT for ten years and comes originally from Burnley in Lancashire, hopes to raise £2,000 for ChildLine. He has started training for the gruelling event - but he’s already had plenty of practice.

“In the past I’ve run ten marathons in ten days, dressed as a woman more times than I can remember, and also dressed as Guy Fawkes - sitting still has never been my forte!” he said.

“I'm already in training for the marathon. At the moment, I’m running about five miles three times a week, building up to ten to 15 miles three times a week in the New Year.”
