Peter takes two titles

Peter's tennis proved too strong for the opponents

Peter Burgess was the star of this year's BT tennis championships, played at the Civil Service Sports Club at Chiswick, London.

He won the men’s singles and then joined up with colleague Colin Triplow -to take the men’s doubles. Peter and Colin work in information and communication technology and customers’ premises equipment in BT procurement.

The singles final saw Peter regain the title he held in 2005 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Phil Jopson of Openreach. Peter's powerful serve and forceful forehand kept Phil on the defensive for most of the match.

Peter was back on court later in the afternoon facing Phil again but this time with regular doubles partner Colin and their established partnership proved too strong for Phil and Nick Lauder of Openreach.

They volleyed their way to a 6-1, 6-2 victory to take the title for the third successive year.
