Four charities aided by challenge

Four charities on the island of Ireland have benefited from this year’s CEO (chief executive officer) Community Challenge.

BT Ireland chief executive Chris Clark said he was delighted the challenge had raised €25,000 (£20,000) to be split between the charities - Simon Communities of Ireland, St Francis Hospice in Raheny, the Cystic Fibrosis Association and Dublin Simon.

The CEO Community Challenge is an incentive scheme run to encourage BT people to significantly beat their key targets in areas such as customer satisfaction, revenue and cost savings.

Participants make proposals which represent tough challenges that would deliver well beyond annual targets. If the target is reached, they are given the opportunity to raise money for charities or community schemes of their choice.

Chris said: “We are delighted to have raised €25,000 through the CEO Community Challenge for charity. Our employees have chosen charities close to their hearts and I hope the money will make a big difference to their work, particularly in today’s economic climate.

“The CEO Community Challenge is a great way to improve our business and serves as a fantastic way to engage and motivate our employees, who themselves proposed which charities and community schemes they wanted to see benefit.”
