Adam Brown is presented with his National Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award
|
Former Openreach apprentice Adam Brown has been named the Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) National Advanced Apprentice of the Year.
The award was announced at the annual industry dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Adam completed his apprenticeship last month and is now an Openreach planning manager based in West London. He was up against two other BT apprentices in the final - Nilesh Bhudia, who works for BT Retail consumer repair in Cardiff, and Openreach customer service engineer Adam Rowe, based at Gatwick. The award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional contributions that apprentices make in the workplace. The ITP said: “We judge apprentices on the difference they have made to their organisation by going beyond expectations and delivering measurable benefits.” After being declared the winner, Adam said: “It is such an honour to be selected as there was some very tough competition. Winning an award is a great personal accomplishment, but, more importantly, it demonstrates just how good BTs apprentice scheme is. High achievement always takes place in a framework of high expectation. I would like to thank everyone who has helped and continues helping me to succeed.” In a message to Adam, BT chief customer innovation officer Paul Excell said: “Well done and well deserved. Your note and attitude speaks volumes for you and the world-class people who are enriching the BT ecosystem - during and after the apprentice programme.” Adam was presented with a customised trophy, and the option of taking part in two personal development training courses - provided by Cesgos UK - and attending the Federation of Telecommunications Engineers of the European Community (FITCE) Congress 2009 in Prague next September. Earlier this year, Adam collected the e-Skills Apprentice Award.
