Jackie McCrory gets ready to go over the edge at the Europa Hotel in Belfast
|
A huge thank you has been issued to colleagues by a BT worker who abseiled down a Belfast hotel to raise money for charity.
Jackie McCrory, who works in the incident management team based at Telephone House in Belfast, raised around £460 after undertaking the abseil in aid of CLIC Sargent, which helps kids with cancer. The event, staged at the Europa Hotel, was part of National Yummy Mummy Week - a fundraising campaign organised by CLIC Sargent. Jackie abseiled around 120ft as hundreds of well-wishers gathered at the foot of the building to encourage both her and other participants. She said: “The money raised as a result of National Yummy Mummy Week will make such a difference to the ten children and young people diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia every day in the UK, and their families. “But, as well as that, National Yummy Mummy Week is about celebrating motherhood and having some plain and simple fun with friends and families. That is what the event at the Europa was all about. It was great fun.” Jackie has issued a thank you to all her friends and colleagues who supported her efforts. In the three years since the Yummy Mummy campaign was launched, more than £700,000 has been generated and this year the aim is to break the £1 million mark.
