BT has been helping with communications for this week's financial summit

A team of specialists from Bristol was seconded at short notice to help with communications for this week’s financial summit in Washington.
While members of the G20 group of nations were preparing for the meeting, the Russian government called on Colin Jarvis and his international private circuit provision team of Bill Stiling, Allen Moss, Andy Scoon and Andy Blacker to provide links to the American capital. Colin explained why the Russians had called on Bristol for the expertise. “Two years ago, when the G8 summit was held in Scotland, the team provided an excellent service to Russian telecoms company Rostelecom," he said. “Since then, Rostelecom has asked members of the lead-to-cash provision team to provide service to distant countries transiting through London.” This is not the first time the team’s reputation has earned important orders for BT. “In the last two years, the team has won orders in the UK and places all over the world, such as Canada, Greece, India and Qatar,” said Colin. “This shows the good working relationship and trust that has been built up between the two carriers by being co-operative and helpful,” he added. The latest provision was to provide a 128K service to Washington and a second diverse circuit via France to Washington, as France Telecom did not have an available route. The team quickly checked spare capacity and another order for a 64K diverse link was won. Colin added: “The individuals involved received thanks from Rostelecom and from the AT&T government service manager in the USA for their perseverance, hard work, dedication and support to make these provisions possible, within the short notice given.”
