BT's solutions have been promoted to key decision makers in the oil and gas industry

BT has highlighted the strengths of its unified communications (UC) solutions to key decision makers in the Nordic oil and gas industry.
Matthew Owen, BT’s head of marketing for the oil and gas sector, spoke to 80 key decision makers when he appeared as a headline speaker at the IDC Unified Communications conference in Oslo, Norway, for the first time. He outlined the benefits of BT’s solutions which offer communications including voice, telephony, instant messaging, e-mail and conferencing. Afterwards, he explained: “There’s strong demand for growth in the oil and gas industry, but new discoveries are being made in ever more remote and hostile territories. "At the same time, the industry faces a shortage of experienced engineers and scientists - as many recruited in the 1970s and 1980s retire. “Our UCs offer oil and gas companies the chance to recruit, retain and make better use of such expertise because the communications mean senior experts can supervise multiple projects from onshore or even from home.” The event also provided an opportunity for the BT Nordics team to continue discussions about UC solutions with two existing customers in the sector.
