Duo’s decades of dedication

Six decades of dedication are something to celebrate - and that’s what Sheffield advisors Sharon Maskrey and Diane Davis have clocked up between them.
The customer service advisors, who both work in Telephone House, have each clocked up 30 years’ service after joining the company in 1978. Having enjoyed a number of roles over the years, Diane is now a 150 broadband advisor, while Sharon works on the 21stt century network (21CN) team on 150. For Sharon, the biggest change she’s seen has been in the way centres run on a day-to-day basis. “There’s still a lot of paper but it’s not like it used to be,” she said. “Way back it was all writing things down but now it’s all e-mail. The technology’s moved on and the company’s moved with it.” She says she’s enjoying the chance to be involved with the 21CN project, speaking with customers at Ebbsfleet in Kent where Openreach is installing fibre optic cable instead of traditional copper to connect houses on a new-build site. “Although I deal mainly with 150 calls, the team also takes orders for phone lines, broadband and BT Vision from customers at Ebbsfleet,” she said. “Having that variety does make the job more interesting.” Centre manager Wendy Parkes said Sharon and Diane had both shown a great deal of commitment to their job and the company. “Thirty years is a terrific achievement,” she said. “They’re enthusiastic and conscientious and a shining example of great team members.”
