Seb has held onto second place despite the unpredictable weather conditions
|
The BT-sponsored yacht skippered by Seb Josse remained up with the leading pack in the Vendee Globe solo round-the-world race today (Wednesday) as the boats faced wildly fluctuating weather conditions.
Travelling at 12 knots through the night, Seb averaged the highest boat speed out of the ten first boats and held on to second place - 38.4 miles behind leader Loick Peyron. There was tension among the fleet today as it headed into the unpredictable weather patterns of the Doldrums, where it faces calm conditions one minute and 40-knot squalls and torrential rain the next. The leaders have gained back some distance over the chasing pack - reversing the trend of yesterday that saw the first ten boats only 100 miles apart. Today, Roland Jourdain in tenth place was 165 miles behind the leader. Seb was among 30 competitors who set off on 9 November from Les Sables d'Olonne on the west coast of France in one of the world’s toughest sailing events. They are due to finish there in three months’ time. You can follow Seb’s progress in the race and send him an e-mail online.
