Fun and fundraising: dressing up at Newcastle call centre

BT people in Newcastle call centre did more than their bit to make this year’s bumper Children in Need fundraising event a success.

For not only were they on hand to take donation pledges on the telethon night as the giant annual event hit TV screens nationally, they also took part in fundraising events during the day.

Dressing up was also the order of the day, with the centre taken over by Smurfs, superheroes and even Santa Claus - and BT Retail advisor Sarah Holmes took it one stage further by dressing as a cowgirl for the whole week, raising £200.

Across the country, BT handled more than 245,000 calls from viewers - up from nearly 212,000 last year.

People at Newcastle tackled an inflatable assault course and boxing ring on the day, and joined in a Wii sports tournament, as well as getting dressed up for the occasion.

And earlier in the week, they took part in an 11-a-side football tournament at the Bedlington Terriers club ground in Northumberland.

Retail people around the country also held their own events - people in Doncaster call centre held a wear-what-you-want day and charity collection, while Exeter people held a baked bean bath.
