Seb Josse has been involved in an exciting battle at the head of the Vendee Globe race
|
Tension mounted among the frontrunners in the Vendee Globe solo round-the-world race today as a distance of just 20 miles separated eight yachts.
Seb Josse took the lead yesterday in his BT-sponsored yacht and then fell back into second place overnight behind Loick Peyron before regaining the lead again from his close rival. Seb opened up a distance of 3.5 miles over Loick, who had previously been leading the race for 13 consecutive days - and behind them was Armel Le Cléac’h. The frontrunners encountered light and shifting winds during the night. Seb had been the most easterly boat of the front trio but moved to the west of his rivals as they battled for the best position in the light conditions. With 5,000 miles of the race course covered, Seb moved back to the east at the head of the fleet as the frontrunners vied to be the first to get south of the St Helena high pressure area and into the fast downwind conditions. You can follow Seb’s progress in the race and send him an e-mail online.
