Ian visits programme’s hub

Ian Livingston gets a user's perspective of the system from Lisa Francis

BT chief executive Ian Livingston got an insight into the progress being made with the first implementation of service delivery transformation when he visited the nerve centre of the programme in Bournemouth this month.  

The programme aims to enable new systems and process changes aimed at, among other things, streamlining work allocation and removing any barriers that stand in the way of getting the job done.

The implementation began in November 2008 and the Solent patch is the first to put the proposed new way of working to the test.

Ian spent the day at the Solent work flow and allocation (WFA) centre where he was given a tour of the site before getting a first-hand account from work flow and allocation controller Lisa Francis who is already using the processes and systems.

He also took time to chat to managers and engineers from the local area to see how they have been affected by the changes.

The day ended with a wrap-up section hosted by members of the programme leadership team, including John Small, Bob Challacombe and programme director Paul Holl.

Ian said: "This is a fantastic demonstration of how we can use technology to transform our processes and the entire approach we have to delivering service.

“I have been really impressed by the commitment I’ve seen here."

John Small added: "Everyone involved in implementing the programme in Solent has worked exceptionally hard and together we have learnt so much. It is a huge lift and encouragement for everyone involved that Ian has taken time from his busy schedule to see for himself how it is going."
