Challenging peaks ahead

There’s a long mountainous haul ahead for BT Retail woman Donika Modi on her way to helping a team raise £800 for charity.

For Donika, a business fixed/mobility credit referrals advisor from Leicester, plans to tackle the gruelling BT Three Peaks Challenge this summer.

She’ll be joining seven friends, including local loop unbundling assurance advisor Sam Eld, on the Yorkshire challenge, which takes in three challenging mountains.

“It’s a tough trek of nearly 25 miles through the wilds of Yorkshire,” said Sam. “During the trek, we have to climb three summits - Pen-y-Ghent, 2,276 feet; Whernside, 2,415 feet and Ingleborough, 2,372 feet.

“It’s going to be a lot tougher than my abseiling last year, requiring a lot of training. But nothing is going to stop me. The tradition is to complete the challenge in 12 hours, although it might take us longer.”

The friends are raising cash for the British Red Cross, and have set themselves the task of raising at least £100 each, making a total of £800.

If you would like sponsor Donika and the team, you can visit their website.

“Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure,” said Sam. “It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me because British Red Cross gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25 per cent in Gift Aid plus a three per cent supplement are added to your donation.”
