Pair run in memory of friend
Thursday April 30th 2009.   Posted: 09:40
When engineers Mark Wardman and John Hogg step it out in the Great North Run this autumn they will be doing so for a cause very close to their hearts.
Mark and John are raising money in memory of former colleague Gerry Moore who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. Mark said: “Gerry was on the CST faults team before leaving the company a few years back, but he was a lovely guy and we kept in touch. “We wanted to do something in his honour and we’ll be raising money for the Teeside Hospice at the same time. “John and I aren’t in the best of shape and Gerry would laugh his head off if he knew we were taking part, but we’re looking forward to it.” The Great North Run covers 13.1 miles and the pair are already in training. Mark said: “John tells me he’s already started preparing by cutting down from 12 inch to 10-inch pizzas!” The pair aim to raise at least £600 and are asking colleagues to donate anything they can. Mark said: “We’d appreciate any sponsorship, especially because we realise people aren’t exactly flush for money at the moment.” Anyone who would like to donate some money should contact Mark on 0771 4448 351 or e-mail Mark.
