More people get Sigma accreditation

BT Business is leading the way with its quality management Lean Six Sigma programme - with more than 19 people having now achieved British Quality Foundation (BQF) accreditations.

BTB’s Lean Six Sigma programme is sponsored by customer experience director Bruce Carter and led by head of business improvement (BI) Alexis Tait.

Lean Six Sigma aims to identify and remove the causes of defects and errors in business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organisation - including ‘Black Belts’ and ‘Green Belts’ who are experts in these methods.

Alexis said: “This is a tremendous achievement for BTB in developing our BI capability across the organisation. BT Retail also played an active role in supporting the programme - assisted by Retail BI lead Penny Aldred and programme co-ordinator Julie Allcock.”

BTB Black Belts - David English, Tracey Hodgson, Emile Greenwood and Glyn Tutt (a master Black Belt) - provided vital high quality coaching to help the students.

The programme was launched last year. It aims to help all its BI professionals achieve Green Belt level over the coming year.

Recently accredited BTB Green Belts are: Jeff Clapp, Chris Herbert, Moira Nelson, Lusenda Carmedy, Jerry Coleman, Colin Baker, Mark Feeney, Gerry Hastie and Kim Dudley.
