Guy’s hard work pays off

BT Operate programme director Guy Bullen has been awarded a doctorate by University College London in a highly relevant topic: decision-making in a complex and uncertain environment.

After studying nights and weekends for more than six years, Guy said: "This was a long, arduous journey, trying - sometimes unsuccessfully - to balance my day job, with my family and social life.

“Yet it has been highly rewarding because of the depth and breadth of insight this has given me into how decisions are made and how decision making can be transformed.

Guy paid tribute to his family, and his supervisors, Dr Michael Lyons of BT Innovate and Professor Andy Valdar of University College London.

Now his ambition is to put into practice the decision model he has developed, which can be reduced to four simple words: see-think-choose-act.

And he is offering BT people a free half-hour consultation if they want to improve decision making in their area of the business and are looking for a model to help them. To find out more, e-mail Guy.
