BT has been nominated for an award in the green supply chain category

The BT supply chain (BTSC) team is in the running for two awards in the finals of the Supply Chain Distinction Awards 2009.

It has been shortlisted for awards in the green supply chain and supply chain innovation categories.

The Supply Chain Distinction Awards recognise operational excellence within the logistics sector and attract entries from logistics providers across Europe. They are judged by leading supply chain and logistics industry experts from around the world.

BT’s nomination in the green supply chain category is for BTSC's Waste Watchers project, supporting the BT-wide vision to be world class in environmental management and to significantly reduce the company's carbon footprint.

By engaging people at all levels within BT - from senior buyers to drivers - the project has helped to ensure the sourcing of energy-efficient products, implementation of efficiencies throughout supply chain operations, and the use of renewable and other green sources of energy wherever possible.

Reliable and robust

The supply chain innovation nomination supports BT’s Right First Time initiative with customers and explains how BTSC links together the various elements of the supply chain service to give real-time accurate information to customers regarding the delivery of their orders.

BT’s entry focused on the systems developed and the collaboration with different parts of the supply chain team and customers to make the end-to-end process reliable and robust.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Dusseldorf, Germany, on 9 June.
