BT Openzone hotspots all over the UK are now available to O2 mobile broadband users

Mobile operator O2 is giving its mobile broadband customers access to thousands of BT Openzone wi-fi hotspots across the UK following a deal with BT.

The deal means O2’s customers will be able to use almost 65,000 managed hotspots via BT Openzone’s business hub.

The hotspots are located in railway stations, airport lounges, conference centres, and coffee house chains such as Caffe Nero and Starbucks.

O2 broadband customers will also be able to log on at additional hotspots in motorway service stations - including Roadchef Costa and Welcome Break - and in hotels run by major hotel chains such as Hilton and Ramada Jarvis.

Expansion plans

BT Openzone says giving access to O2’s mobile broadband customers is the second stage of an ongoing relationship. Last year, O2 iPhone users were given access to hotspots across the UK.

Marjorie Leonidas, head of wholesale and international roaming at BT Openzone, said: “We are committed to expanding our estate, adding hotspots in places where people want to connect.

“We’re delighted that O2 mobile broadband users - in addition to existing O2 iPhone users - can work, game and talk using BT’s network.”
