BT is one of the first companies to pledge to promote health and safety issues

BT has become one of the first companies to sign up to a new pledge to promote health and safety.

The five-part pledge has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive as part of its new strategy to work in partnership with organisations.

Employers have to commit to work to reducing the number of work-related deaths, injuries and illnesses.

They have to recognise the importance of health and safety during difficult economic times, and the dangers of complacency.

The pledge also calls on employers to put health and safety at the heart of what they do and to adopt a commonsense approach to issues.

BT Group safety advisor Dave Wallington said: “We are keen to promote effective health and safety in our business and support wider efforts to improve standards in this area.

“Signing up to this pledge is something that clearly aligns with our overall approach and we are happy to give it our full support.”
