It’s about trust, says Kevin

Kevin Moss

Kevin Moss is speaking at the CSR Awards event next week

Kevin Moss - head of corporate social responsibility (CSR) for BT Americas - will be the keynote speaker at a major awards event next week.

The CSR Awards, which are being run by American public relations magazine PR News, will take place at the National Press Club in Washington DC.

“I will be talking about the fact that the public’s trust in businesses is at an all-time low - even though, overall, commerce is a force for good in society,” said Kevin.

“And I will be addressing what CSR and communications professionals can do to reinstate trust in big businesses.

Oscar nomination

“That three of the films which have won nominations for best picture in this year’s Oscars - Up in the Air, Avatar and District 9 - feature companies portrayed as forces for harm illustrates the popular perception of corporations.

“In a few years’ time, I would love to see a film nominated for an Oscar which has as its main protagonist a company as a force for good - as a result of our efforts.”

This year’s event will also be attended by several BT customers and representatives from CSR organisations with which the company is involved.

Kevin was invited back to present the keynote speech this year after he won the CSR Executive of the Year award at the same event last year.

He became the first executive in BT to be appointed head of CSR for BT Americas in 2006.

Formerly director of product operations for BT Americas, he recognised the potential value of extending BT’s commitment to sustainability into its business operations beyond the UK and created his own job doing something he is passionate about.
