BT is looking to recruit a team of 750 people to work across the 94 London 2012 venues

BT has started the next stage of its London 2012 journey - recruiting the team which will deliver BT’s services for the greatest sporting event in the world.
BT will be providing the critical communications services and infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - and a company-wide recruitment campaign has begun to be sure of success. Group director for BT’s London 2012 programme Duncan Ingram said: “To deliver our commitment, right first time, we’ll need around 750 people to work across the 94 venues during the summer of 2012. “This team - known as The Squad - will be crucial to our success, so we need our very best people. “These are people with essential skill sets who will be invited to apply in a competitive recruitment process. They will be the linchpins of BT’s performance as the Games take place.” No second chances Recruitment is taking place in phases, starting with the venue telecoms manager role. Human resources representatives from each line of business (LoB) will identify potential candidates - and they will then be contacted by the LoB 2012 champion who will invite them to apply. Recruitment for other roles will follow in the next few months. “Members of The Squad will be selected during 2010 - so they can be fully trained and ready for the 2012 Games,” added Duncan. "There are no second chances with an event of this scale. To be sure of success, we must start recruiting now.” They will continue with their current jobs until they are needed for their Games-time role - taking part in training days and test events between now and 2012. Once the Games have ended, they will return to their usual teams - either in their current job or a similar position. Duncan said: “This is an exciting stage of our London 2012 journey. The world will be watching the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - and BT’s role is critical to making them a success.” Find out more about BT's London 2012 partnership online.
