Q: What happens when I reach the end of the BT Home Computing Scheme (36 months)?

A: BT launched the Home Computing scheme almost three years ago and since then almost 30,000 BT employees have benefited from the scheme. Those who were the first to benefit from the offer are now nearing the end of the 36-month scheme, and will have the opportunity to purchase the equipment they have leased through it.

To make this process as simple as possible, people will be contacted in the two months prior to the 36th (final) reduction from salary being made. They will be asked whether they wish to purchase the equipment for around 5% of the initial value or return it to BT at their own expense.

If the employee decides to purchase the equipment, the purchase price plus VAT will be deducted from their take home pay in the month after the final (36th) reduction in salary is made.

To comply with the tax regulations on which the BTHC scheme is based, employees can only have one BTHC scheme running at any one time. Therefore, once the 36th reduction has been made, employees will be able to benefit from the BTHC scheme again.

If you are unsure when your final (36th) reduction will be made, you can review your payslips online to confirm when the first reduction was made.
