FAQ

We have negotiated two offers - together worth up to £25 - which provide an excellent incentive for BT people to switch to a renewable energy supplier at home.

Simply filling out a web form to switch your electricity supplier can ensure that the units of electricity you use are generated from renewable sources. And with some suppliers offering price-matching tariffs, your energy bills needn't be any higher.

The offers

BT people who use the green energy comparison and switching service called the Green Helpline can now receive £15 cash back if they switch supplier. The service is free, quick and easy to use and in just a few minutes you could reduce your CO2 footprint by as much as two tonnes per year, save up to £150 on your energy bills and earn a £15 BT reward for going greener.

An additional £10 credit is available for BT people who switch to Ecotricity using the Green Helpline switching site.

As green energy pioneers, Ecotricity are dedicated to building new wind turbines to fight climate change. They take the money their customers spend on electricity and invest it in clean forms of power like wind energy.

Ecotricity invests more per customer in building new sources of renewable energy than all the other UK suppliers put together. What's more, the company promises to match the standard price of your regional supplier with its New Energy tariff, so it shouldn’t cost you any more to switch.

How to switch

Switching supplier is a simple two-step process:

  • Select your green energy supplier - use the Green Helpline website to compare and select your preferred green electricity provider. The site provides details of each tariff, the level of green-ness and the likely cost.

  • Switch to your chosen supplier - once you have selected your supplier, use the switching facility on the Green Helpline’s website to initiate your switch.

To qualify for the Benefits Plus offers you must use this link to access the Green Helpline's BT website.

  • BT employees who want to find out more about climate change, renewable energy and BT’s Climate Change programme can do so here.
