BT teams are being offered the chance to take part in the Lake Geneva Five Countries Cycle Challenge - five countries in three days. The challenge is for teams of four to cycle 520 miles in relay from Valenciennes to Lake Geneva in just three days. The ride will take cyclists across northern France, into Belgium and Luxembourg, before heading further east into Germany and then south to Switzerland. The cyclists will pass through the Vosges, Jura and Swiss Alps mountains before finishing on the shores of Lake Geneva. The objective is to raise money for charity. Each team is committed to raising at least £1,000. Half the money raised will go to the charity Epilepsy Action and the teams can nominate their own charity for the other half. Each team has to pay an entry fee of £940 to cover the costs of the channel crossings, the accommodation and food. Epilepsy Action says teams should be able to average a minimum of 15mph. Road bikes are best but lightweight mountain bikes with slick tyres will be acceptable. Teams will need a support vehicle to carry the bikes and personal fuel. For full details of the challenge, and information on entering, contact Philippa Corner on (0113) 210 8800 or send her an e-mail.
